What is the Steel Materials Database?
After discussions with experts in their fields, we are pleased to announce the availability of our newest materials properties database, the Steel Materials Database (STMD). We think that researchers and vendors in the heavy industry sectors such as mining, construction, marine, and nuclear energy will find it most useful.
The STMD pulls together some of the most utilized, high-quality properties and technical data into a specialized package. Featured in the STMD's 9 material groups are 28 high-strength steel alloys, and over 40 stainless and precipitation hardening steels including ferritic, austenitic, martensitic, and duplex grades. Extensive data on static and dynamic mechanical properties, processing, joining, corrosion, service condition and temperature effects, and much more information are presented in combinations of readable and graphical formats. As with all information in our databases, each dataset is meticulously vetted, documented and referenced.
There are 114 materials, 10,523 datasets and 36,627 data curves in the STMD, covering mechanical, electrical, nuclear, thermophysical and thermoradiative properties of the materials.
The STMD will be a valuable tool for any company designing and producing products with high-performance steel alloys.
Resources
CINDAS LLC web-based database graphing functions include:
- Large graphs.
- Hovering cursor will show x and y values of each data point on the graph, in the color of the graph. All of the actual test data is still shown using the Show Text option.
- Zoom feature expands the scale of the graph instantly. To zoom into the graph, click and drag a box around the data points to see in more detail. The graph will automatically adjust the axis values. This feature may be used multiple times to expand the same area of the graph. To return to the original graph, click Reset Zoom.
- Export to printer, JPG, PNG, PDF, etc. New icons on graph display, allow user to save/export the graph to various programs.
- Change Units feature placed next to the property and can be changed prior to viewing graph.
- Expanded HELP section to explain new features.
- Question marks (?) for immediate help with material and curve selection instructions.
